This tour starts in Passeig de Gràcia, where the wealthy Catalan families settled in the late nineteenth century. Today, it is the most elegant avenue in the city: the “5th avenue” of Barcelona. We will understand why this new social class emerged, as it was the beginning of the economic development of Catalonia (now, the richest area of Spain). In this avenue we will see the Casa Lleó i Morera, Casa Amatller, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera.
Our next stop will be the Sagrada Família, the masterpiece of Antonio Gaudí, still unfinished and the landmark of Barcelona.
We will end the tour going into the Park Güell, work of Gaudí for his friend and patron, Eusebi Güell.
Extend the tour one hour to visit the inside of one of the houses of Gaudí and to see how the bourgeoisie used to live – I recommend La Pedrera (cost of the extra hour: 55€).
